"Perhaps a modern society can remain stable only by eliminating adolescence, by giving its young, from the age of ten, the skills, responsibilities, and rewards of grownups, and opportunites for action in all spheres of life. Adolescence should be a time of useful action, while book learning and scholarship should be a preoccupation of adults."

—Eric Hoffer (1902-83) American philosopher

Your Library Director Welcomes You

Hello!

It is the first day of spring!! Wow, it is about time. I think we are all sick of winter this year!! I love that it is light when I leave the library at night, that I can hear Robins singing, and kids playing in the park.

There have been some changes in the library hours, we are here everyday from 1-6 PM during the week and 9-Noon on Saturdays. We also have E-Books!!! You must have your own e-reader and a library card from Roodhouse and you can check out books for free!! This was made possible by a grant through Illinois Heartland Library System. Come in and see us and get started reading on your laptop, smartphone, ipad or e-reader today!!

Remodeling work on the library will be starting in April. Our building is old and in need of some tender loving care. I wrote a grant last year which will help us put some siding on the whole building, adding some new windows and a few more updates inside! Bear with us if we have to close a couple of days I promise it will be worth it!

I think that is all I have to share right now.

Keep reading! I will see you in the stacks!

Beth
