"History is a living horse laughing at a wooden horse. History is a wind blowing where it listeth. History is no sure thing to bet on. History is a box of tricks with a lost key. History is a labyrinth of doors with sliding panels, a book of ciphers with the code in a cave of the Saragossa sea. History says, if it pleases, Excuse me, I beg your pardon, it will never happen again if I can help it."

—Carl Sandburg (1878-1967) American writer known for free verse, Smoke and Steel

Everything we do for you, inside the library or out

Circulation Services

All of our books are checked out for two (2) weeks you may renew them by phone or by coming in. New books may only be checked out for 2 weeks, 2 books only and may not be renewed for six (6)weeks.  We know that this sounds harsh but if you wanted to read a new release you would not like it if somebody kept renewing  over and over and took most of the newer books out at once. So please be understanding and realize that this is done for you the patron. DVDs my be checked out two (2) at a time for three days only.

Youth and Teen Services

We are trying hard to bring more young people into the library and show them the wonderful resouce a public library can be. We have updated may of our reading materials, we offer more drop in and do projects and as always we are here to help with homework.

Unfortunately,  lack of space and money prohibits us from many of the newer things occuring in other libraries but we always try to make Roodhouse Public a fun, safe  and informative place for our youth.

We have a great collection of railroad books, many magazines, and our nonfiction room is great! If we don't have the book you are needing or wanting to read we will do what we can to find it.
