Roodhouse Public LIbrary Board Meeting Minutes September 11, 2013
Call To Order: Meeting was called to order by President Jeanne Bettis at 5:30.
Roll Call: Members present, Sharon Patterson, Mike Harper, Jeanne Bettis, Sharon Sitton, Carolyn Camp, Beth Burrus. David Mead arrived late for the meeting. Beth Huffines, librarian, was present.
Previous Minutes: Minutes from the previous meeting August 13, 2013 were read and approved on a motion made by Sharon Patterson, seconded by Sharon Sitton.
A. The Governor is giving grants to downstate towns. Our Mayor and an Alderman plan to attend a meeting to see if we qualify for some of the funding for our town ( and for the library).
B. We made $1,490.00 before expenses on Greene County Days Sale. Books and donations totaled $499.550, coffee & dounuts $991.00. The cost of the donuts and coffee was &546.25. Note for next year: 85 dozen donuts were ordered. This included 25 extra boxes of donuts to sell. We also ordered 10 extra house blend and dark roast coffee to sell.
C. Assistant Librarian Carole Wells proposed a change in hours of operation. The change would be Mon - Thurs 1 -6 PM, Friday 2-5PM and 9AM - Noon Saturdays. There will be moree continuity in the hours that way.
D. Pumpkin Fest was proposed for October 26.
E. The librarian was informed that a separate account needs to be set up for the building fund.
F, Donations this month were from the Sittons, Meads and Anne Marine McKean.
Financial Report: Mike Harper reported on the finances. A motion was made by Beth Burrus, seconded by Sharon Sitton to approve the report and expenditures. Motion Passed.
Committee Reports: Jeanne Bettis talked to Mr. Whiting about the cost of a 3840 sq.ft. Morton buildingfor the library. A rough estimate was between 480-500 thousand dollars.
Beth Burrus presented the S.W.O.T. analysis for the Per Capita Grant. ( see attached paper).
Unfinished Business: None to report.
New Business: A motion was made by Beth Burrus, seconded by David Mead to set the Library Hours as 1-6 PM Monday - Thursday, Friday 2-5 PM, Saturday 9 AM to Noon. Motion Carried.
A motion was made by Burrus seconded by Mead to create a Buillding Fund Bank Account. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Mead, seconded by Camp to set the Pumpkin Fest on October 26 from 10 AM to Noon. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Camp, seconded by Harper to set the Christmas Bake Sale & Book Sale on December 7 from 9AM - Noon. Motion carried.
Librarian Huffines reminded us we have a quilted table topper that we are selling raffle tickets for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.
